NCPS | Children's Mental Health Week

The NCS has a long history of working closely with grassroots organisations around the UK. As it's Children's Mental Health Week, here is some information about the wonderful organisations that are working hard to improve the mental health of Children & Young People in the UK:

Beyond

Beyond is a youth mental health charity that exists to improve the mental health of young people in the UK.

They raise money to help other organisations and schools that are underfunded or underutilised and are committed to giving out grants which will truly make a difference to the mental health of young people up and down the UK. They share knowledge and best practice.

They campaign to make a difference and bring about change before the point of crisis.

Beyond is powered by an impassioned youth board that is determined to instil new attitudes. They are the heart and soul of the charity – the idea-generators, campaign drivers and future changemakers.

Butterflies Child and Adolescent Counselling Service

Butterflies provides a therapeutic service for children and adolescents between the ages of 4 years to 18 years who have experienced Abuse and Trauma and/or any other related issues. We work integratively incorporating various techniques and strategies by using Creative Interventions such as Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Laughter Therapy, Talking and Solution Focused Therapies, EFT (Tapping) and CATT (Child Accelerated Trauma Therapy.) We also work with and support parents whilst their child is undertaking therapy with our service.

Our Equine Assisted Therapy & Learning Service is an 'Experiential Modality' of Mental Health Treatment where the child participates in activities with horses and then works with the support of a facilitating team to process their thoughts, beliefs, behaviours and patterns.

We have an Equine Bullying Programme in which we visit schools to raise awareness of Bullying and run equine workshops during school holidays.

North East Counselling Services

North East Counselling Services was formed in 2006 to provide support for people in Gateshead who are carers. We continue to provide counselling to carers to this day but our remit has expanded to deliver counselling to children and young people aged 4+. We also provide counselling to adults - both individuals and couples.

Counselling can now be provided by Zoom or telephone which means that we can expand our high quality counselling provision across the UK.

We have around 50 counsellors delivering counselling on our behalf. We bring in counsellors at trainee level and help them to develop their career as a counsellor within our organisation and beyond.
