We have officially changed our name to the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society!

Information for members

As of the 15th of May 2023, we have officially changed our name to the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

Our new and improved website is coming soon!

The Academy: SPACE is growing and there are opportunities to join our Tutor Team

We seek tutors who have a person-centred/relational integration and the ability to integrate personal awareness development, experiential/interactive learning and academic skills into teaching. All of our tutors vary in the way that they practice as counsellors, but it is important that, as one of our tutors, you would be comfortable with the commitment to deliver our Core Theoretical Model (CTM). Our CTM integrates a person-centred/relational core, that also references Clarkson’s 5 types of relationship model, with a modest range of interventions based on Evans’ holistic BEST-I BEST-RU model. Further information on our CTM may be found on our website.

We are in process of deciding exactly what staff and roles we will need to complement our existing team (from September 2017) but invite suitably qualified practitioners who have some teaching experience to contact us if you believe you could contribute to the areas listed below.

Here are some examples of what we are likely to be seeking:-

One or two people (substantial part-time employed posts) to complement our Core Teaching Team and contribute to delivering modules across the Programme. You do not need to be able to teach every aspect of this Programme. Some course materials are already written and support is available. It will help us to know where your strengths and interests lie. Our needs include the following topic areas:

FOUNDATION (one year part-time)

Introductory counselling skills and theory modules

Common Personal Problems

Developing Personal Awareness

One tutor delivers the whole course – course materials are already developed.

DIPLOMA (NCS accredited - three years part-time)

A Theory and Skills strand across the 3 years, that includes core theory; Human and Personal Development; Comparative Models; Research Methods.

A Personal and Professional Development strand, also across the 3 years, that includes Assessment and Referral; one-to-one and group Clinical Supervision and Supervision Development; Professional Skills and Trends.

Please reply by email to Sally Lee (Operations Director) with a CV and covering letter clearly indicating in which aspects of the above you are interested and highlighting where you have suitable qualifications and/or expertise and experience.

For all teaching we would expect a Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent) and for Diploma teaching at least degree level and preferably Masters level academic skills (not necessarily, but ideally, in counselling/ psychotherapy). A teaching qualification is highly desirable.

We will follow-up expressions of interest with further information about the application process, job and person specifications etc.
