How can I help?
I provide face to face and online counselling from my private office in rural North Norfolk. I work exclusively with individuals and couples over the age of 18. I offer a half price initial consultation which allows a full 60 minute session for us to get to know each other and see if you feel comfortable working with me. My approach is integrative allowing me to tailor my sessions to you as an individual. Please read on for further details.
Individual Counselling
If you have been struggling with any form of emotional distress for some time with no discernible cause you may be feeling confused and frustrated. Experiencing overwhelming or debilitating symptoms such as anxiety, anger outbursts or depression without knowing why can leave you powerless to change your situation, feeling stuck with no way forward. You may be using alcohol, food or excessive spending as a distraction or a way to cope. Counselling can help by supporting you to explore your thoughts, feelings and actions without falling into self judgement. Often we judge ourselves far more harshly than we do others and this prevents us from seeing ourselves and our situation clearly. We know how to help someone else but not ourselves.....
As we begin to see ourselves more clearly we can change patterns of thought and behaviour that have been holding us back. We can develop authentic confidence and healthy self esteem which can lead to a reduction in anxiety, anger and depression.
Couples Counselling
If your relationship is affected by arguments, conflict and communication breakdown; if you feel yourself and your partner "going around in circles" while struggling to even remember what you're arguing about, it may be that unhelpful patterns of behaviour and emotional triggers are affecting your communication. Couples counselling can help to identify those patterns and triggers and we can work together to create new ways of relating to each other that allow the conflicts to be resolved and deeper trust and connection to be built in your relationship
About Me
I have a life long personal interest in psychology and mental wellbeing. I began working in roles supporting others around 20 years ago and have worked in young people's supported housing, a rehabilitation centre and prisons substance abuse services.
I qualified as a counsellor and opened a private practice in 2015 as a route to offering more individualised support.
In 2018 I trained as a couples counsellor and currently enjoy working both with individuals and couples.
