I have worked for over 12 years with a local bereavement charity (Simon Says) that offers support to children and families who have experienced the death of a significant person(s) in their life. More recently I have provided counselling support for college students.
No one can fix what has happened or underestimate the enormity of grieving for those left behind.
There is no time limit for grief, and some adults/children will need extra support in navigating through the grieving process. Some may become "stuck" in their grief, whilst others may be unable to manage the intense emotions of their loss. Death can often be hard to understand and accept for children and young people, especially if the nature of the death was complex.
Although counselling can not fix what has happened, I am passionate that the right bereavement counselling can support those struggling with their loss, normalise their feelings and assist in finding new and healthier ways of managing their grief, whilst facilitating hope for the future.
Qualifications :
Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (AIM Award level 5)
Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory (AIM Award level 4)
Working creatively with bereaved children & young people (AIM Award level 6)
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASSIST) - Living Working
Foundation for Infant Loss Training - Pregnancy & Infant Loss
-Assist clients with subsequent pregnancies
