I did my counselling/psychotherapy training in person-centred/experiential counselling and psychotherapy at the University of Strathclyde. I also have some familiarity with the Focusing method (I have completed Level 1 of the British Focusing Association’s Focusing Skills course) and with Emotion-Focused Therapy.
I have a therapeutic interest in the process of complex trauma arising out of routine or prolonged and repeated abuse within a relationship(s) which has also led me to explore my own experience of routine abuse in childhood.
I have an interest in meditation and in 2014 I spent five months living in three Buddhist monasteries/temples in South Korea, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Person-centred/experiential counselling is • a confidential space that can offer safety when things are difficult or impossible to bear • a space to help explore new or unknown aspects of yourself.
I aim to provide or offer
• an unconditional acceptance that is safe, warm and respectful of how you are and what you are
• a climate conducive to being with your feelings, thoughts or what is important to you
through following your lead and trying to understand things from your point of view.
