I believe in the uniqueness and value that is within every one of us. This allows me to unreservedly accept each person for who they truly are, without expectation or judgement and without any conditions being in place.
I have learnt that there is real power in being able to open up in a safe space to someone who will not judge you or interpret your story with their own meanings. Someone who will really hear you and work to understand you, without trying to change who you are or tell you what to do. I believe that each individual is the best person to tell their own story and to determine the outcome. The journey is yours, but you need not be alone.
I offer acceptance and understanding, I will never judge. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to share, explore and process your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Counselling is often described as talking therapy. It can offer you space in your life to focus on what is troubling you and to find a way forward. It should feel safe, comfortable, non-judgmental. People come to counselling for lots of different reasons and you should feel free to discuss anything. It is important that you find the right counsellor for you and I offer a free initial meeting to make sure that you are happy before we begin sessions.
I practice person centred counselling, which is a holistic and in-depth approach. It acknowledges, explores and values the impact of both the conscious and unconscious. Giving consideration to emotions, not just thoughts and behaviours.
In counselling, I encourage you to speak freely about your experiences, memories, emotions, desires, fears, relationships - whatever is on your mind. By doing so, you will gain clarity and insight into your life, recognise patterns of behaviour and ultimately, understand yourself better. It is this understanding that is key; bringing thoughts and feelings into our awareness gives us the power to change them or be freed from them.
