FACE TO FACE ~ ONLINE ~ TELEPHONE Something has led you to look for a counsellor, or perhaps your GP has suggested you have counselling, maybe you are missing feeling happiness and joy, and can’t quite work out why. Whatever the reason, that is where we can start. You don’t have to have it all worked out before the first session.
I offer a trusting, empathic, supportive therapeutic space, and a place which is safe for clients to explore and understand their emotions, feelings, behaviours and experiences without judgement.
The most comment question I get asked is how does it all work?
Prior to the FIRST SESSION, I send out some paperwork for you to read and complete. This gives you information about our counselling sessions, and it gives me some basic information about you. It also gives you the opportunity to call me or email if there is anything that you want more information on or explaining.
Having done this in advance means that at the first session we are able to spend the time talking about you, your feelings, situation, thoughts etc. as well as what you are hoping to gain from sessions.
The first session is also an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working with me. It's really important because you need to sense that you can trust me, and feel that I empathise with you.
At the end of the first session, you can decide if you want to return and book more sessions.
AVAILABILITY: short and longer-term therapy, single-session therapy, blocks of 6 weeks, or ongoing. Sessions can be booked weekly, fortnightly or ad hoc, and can be face to face, online, or a combination of both.
The THERAPY APPROACH I offer works with your needs and does not attempt to fit you into a programme, but instead enables me to work in a bespoke way and include a combination of Person-centred, Brief therapy, Relational Therapy, CBT techniques, Family therapy, Solution-focused, and Systemic that offers flexibility to work with what you bring.
In addition to private counselling, I volunteer for the charity CRUSE (Bereavement counselling) and previously worked with CAMHS (Specialising in Children and Adolescent Counselling and Family Therapy).
