Everybody has a story ... having that story listened to and accepted can be helpful and empowering. To tell our story we need a space where we can feel safe to explore our thoughts and feelings, to ask ourselves difficult and sometimes uncomfortable questions.
My counselling philosophy is to try and met the need wherever it exists and I use my private practice to help support my community-based work. I am currently a director of a community interest company where I manage referrals for a project which is funded by the Ministry of Justice and the Police and Crime Commissioners Office. I currently hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate which allows me to work with adolescents and vulnerable adults.
Before training as a counsellor I have had a variety of jobs including teaching statistics in higher education and mathematics at secondary level. I was also a freelance computer programmer for twenty years and I am happily married with two children and two grandchildren.
