Welcome

Below is a summary of my background, how I can help you and what you can expect from me as a Counsellor and my approach to how I work.

A Bit About Me

Like many people I have travelled various paths, and with over 40 years work experience, I have tapped into many disciplines ranging from various office positions, including work within Social Services and the NHS, changing track to become a Fitness Trainer, Complementary Health Therapist and Yoga Teacher.

I feel it can be said life is about what we experience and perhaps how we experience it, and for some, there is growth leading to evolvement.

My evolvement has led me to the areas of Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Hypnotherapy.

How Counselling Can Help You

As a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I can help you by offering the space and support required whilst managing your difficulties as together we explore your thoughts and feelings that are creating the conditions or turmoil in your internal world. When this happens, you will find you have the time to reflect, understand yourself better, you will feel heard and listened to. From here you will reach a new understanding of yourself and/or of your situation enabling you to view things in a different, more constructive light, as your perspective changes. By restoring balance into your life you can grow moving forwards in a more confident and positive way.

For this to happen, I use an integrative approach to counselling, which means I draw upon a number of theories and models to aid my work. I may also use a solution-focused approach to my work. This is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psychotherapeutic change by addressing the desired outcome of therapy as a solution rather than focusing on the symptoms or issues that may have brought you to therapy. This means I am interested in what is happening in the present and the future desires you have, just focusing on the past only to the degree necessary for communicating empathy and accurate understanding of your concerns.

Counselling is about helping others giving them the guidance to understand themselves better and the tools to make change in their life.

Sessions are offered in a safe, calm and tranquil setting whilst offering an environment which is confidential, open, empathetic, congruent (genuine) and non-judgemental warmth.

What To Expect In Your First Session

After contacting me, there would first be a telephone conversation, during which we would agree to meet for an introduction/initial consultation. At this I will complete consultation forms, agree a number of sessions and if time allows, take things further.

After all Oscar Wilde said "be yourself, everyone else is taken!"
