About me and my therapy practice
Having spent 4 years working away from home, as an Addiction Counsellor in a Residential Treatment Centre, I decided in 2015 to set up a specialist private practice, that would allow me to continue to do the work that I love and be closer to my family.
Here at Belfast City Counselling we provide specialist focussed private and confidential counselling in the following areas: Alcohol, Drug (including Prescription Medication) and Gambling Misuse or Abuse. Mental Health including: Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD, Anxiety, Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia and Post Natal Depression. We also provide counselling in the area of Trauma, including Sexual, Physical and Mental Abuse, Sexual Harassment and Bullying.
Having Initially focussed on working with those affected by addiction it soon became apparent that for many of my clients, the use of alcohol, drugs or gambling was just part of their story. Many of those I worked with used in order to escape the pain of traumatic events that they had experienced or to self - medicate the highs and lows that they were experiencing. So I retrained in these other areas so that I would be better able to help all of those that I saw in my practice
