I offer one to one counselling in my relaxing therapy room on the peaceful farm where I live.
I am also a senior counsellor and director at a well regarded counselling agency in Plymouth. I receive excellent supervision and on going training there. This ensures my practice meets the needs and expectations of my clients and this level of professionalism is embedded in my private practice too.
My way of working has been described by my clients as warm, open and deeply supportive.
Earlier in my career I trained to be a Qualitative Researcher. This type of research explores an issue to gain deeper insight and understanding.
We are all richly complex so the skills I gained as a researcher are essential to me as a therapist: They help me, to help you, discover and understand the individual nature of your personality and the challenges that present you in life: They also help me, help you, discover what you need in order to live a fulfilling life.
I recently conducted a piece of research to find out what clients identified as the top benefits from their counselling.
'Opening up' about their problem gave them 'enormous relief.'
The ‘non judgmental’ acceptance of an ‘empathic’ counsellor was highly valued because they felt free to explore 'everything' that was troubling them.
They gained a better understanding of themselves and how relationships work.
More confidence and higher self esteem.
Finally they felt stronger and more able to cope with life’s challenges.
