People see a counsellor for many reasons, not just that they are feeling there is a crisis. On having counselling some people say; “I don’t want someone telling me what to do”. Counselling is not someone telling you what to do, it is an opportunity to explore in confidence whatever is troubling you. The counselling relationship offers you time and space and is without judgement. Sometimes we want somebody to talk to who is trained to listen, someone who is present and interested.
My training in integrative, I adapt the therapeutic approaches to work with the person as a whole using Person Centred Theory, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
