I am an integrative counsellor which means that I use a range of counselling techniques allowing me to tailor sessions according to the needs of each individual client. Clients have often remarked on the benefit of sharing their thoughts and feelings with a third party. Providing a safe, understanding, non-judgemental environment enables clients to explore and work through whatever is bothering them. I work with a wide variety of issues; anxiety, bereavement, grief, palliative care, insomnia, relationship issues and stress to mention but a few. I offer my services to a local Hospice providing Bereavement Counselling to patients, carers and the bereaved.
The healing effect of sharing a problem is what drew me to train as a counsellor and leave my career after 23years as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Working within the hospital environment and meeting people at differing stages of their lives deepened my desire to become a counsellor and increased my understanding for the need of it.
A key element to the success of counselling is the relationship between counsellor and client. Both need to feel comfortable working with each other and have a sense that they are the right fit to share this very personal journey. With this in mind I offer a free initial consultation where this assessment can be made. As an accredited member of the National Counselling Society you can be reassured of my commitment to working ethically and within my capabilities.
