Kirsty has a wealth of expertise combining over 25 years of corporate experience with a professional qualification in psychotherapeutic counselling.
Prior to her qualification as a chartered certified accountant (FCCA) she had already perfected the art of difficult conversations as a certified credit controller (AICM). Kirsty also spent several academic sessions teaching professional accountants, where her love for educating was established. Her last corporate position was in banking, where she saw through the global financial crisis and sadly witnessed the aftermath on people’s mental health and careers including her own.
In 2019, Kirsty co-founded Mind & Mission, and with her business partner, provides counselling services and education to private clients, businesses, charities and public bodies.
A recent client said “Sometimes without really noticing, until it has almost gone out, your 'spark' can be dulled by past experiences. Without being able to name it, my very core was in conflict and I can now see that I felt some of my biggest personal values were 'wrong' for the world I worked in. Chatting with and being gently guided by Kirsty to face some past work experiences and the little nagging doubts it had left in my head has honestly transformed my outlook. Kirsty has given me so many tools to handle the inevitable challenges that arise in the future and my confidence in who I am and the skills I have has returned” another said “I have walked back into work with a whole new set of eyes, I have gained so much more confidence back and love for myself”.
Kirsty selects the most relevant theory, models and latest thinking to engage, inspire and elicit thought provoking conversations around all areas of mental health. She excels in the design and delivery of training, most recently winning an independent award for the development of a training programme supporting rural Scotland on behalf of The Scottish Government.
She is a published author, with her thought leadership featured in The Scotsman, cityam.com, workplaceinsight.net, CA Magazine, The NCPS and HR Director.
Originally form the Scottish Borders, she now lives in Edinburgh with her husband and sons. In her spare time, Kirsty is learning to play the piano, loves interior design, cooking and gardening.
