Key Worker Counselling

With an extensive background in health care and healthcare research, I bring a broad and informed experience to the therapeutic encounter. Before becoming a counsellor I worked in the NHS for many years, first as a nurse, then midwife and for ten years as a health visitor. I am a yoga and mindfulness teacher with over 20 years of regular meditation practice. My PhD research explored the experience of mindfulness from the perspectives of people with long-term conditions as they took part in a year-long mindfulness programme. Currently I work as a health researcher at the University of Edinburgh in the department of counselling, psychoptherapy and applied social sciences, and at Edinburgh Napier University, within the counselling and well-being team.
