Firstly a warm hello, I’m Mark, the founder and therapist here at Rooted Tree Counselling. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
A bit about me.
I have been working in the field of Therapy since 2014, where i worked as an adventure therapy practitioner. I used outdoor pursuits and therapeutic conversations as a vessel for creating positive change, working with children who’s lives had often been too colourful for education. I went on to become an accredited therapist in 2019, setting up my private practise at the end of that year.
My Approach towards providing therapy is humanistic integrative and I work holistically, but what does this actually mean? It means I look at things as a whole system not individual parts, taking into account physical, mental and emotional health. I utilise a variety of approaches within a humanistic framework such as Person-Centred, Transactional analysis, Gestalt and Solution focussed therapy.
What can you expect from our sessions?
I now work with adults, offering counselling sessions over zoom and create a safe, non judgmental space for you to open up a dialect. In this space I listen to what areas you’d like to work on and together we may create strategies or approaches towards creating the changes you desire. I listen to you with empathy, accept you as a person and what you bring into the sessions, as well as appropriately challenging you if necessary. I don’t believe that you can be ‘therapised’, as therapy is a two way process and relies on both you and I working together. Counselling falls under ‘talking therapy’, however if appropriate I use visual aids, offer different techniques and may invite you to get creative as part of the therapy process.
