“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” (1) Are you experiencing challenges in life that feel completely consuming? Perhaps draining you not just mentally, but emotionally and physically. This can be exhausting and can cause you to feel isolated and alone. This only exasperates the symptoms and emotions you are facing, keeping you in what feels like an endless loop.
Whether you choose to work with me as your therapist or not, I’d like to say a truly heartfelt, genuine; “well done!!” You’ve taken the first step towards change by coming onto this website and seeking out a counsellor and it’s important to acknowledge that, recognising you need support is courageous. Having someone to talk to during these times can help you to make sense of what’s going on and how to mindfully navigate these obstacles with inner kindness, awareness and compassion.
Do any of these apply to you:
Are you feeling somewhat lost as to who you are?
Are you finding stress levels difficult to manage?
Are you feeling confused, disconnected or insecure?
Are you worrying about things that are out of your control?
Are you struggling with unhelpful patterns or behaviours that were once there to help you cope, but now make life much more challenging and isolating?
Do you struggle with everyday life and finding a sense of happiness and freedom?
Are you experiencing difficulties within relationships?
Do you find yourself anxious, overwhelmed and frustrated but can’t always pinpoint why?
Are you worried about being judged and wanting to please others all the time?
In order for you to feel and be the person you want to be, change needs to happen, but you don’t have to face it alone.
So if you’ve read to this point, why should you trust me to help you?
I am here FOR YOU, to support you during this challenging time. Whatever difficulties you are facing and whatever you bring to each session, I will treat you with respect, listen to you with empathy and accept you for who you are, metaphorical warts and all. Helping you to create awareness and seek out the changes you wish to make.
I am a ‘Humanistic Integrative Counsellor’ but technical jargon aside, what does this mean for you? As a Humanistic counsellor, I try to see people's lives as they see it through their eyes. I feel very privileged to get an insight into the lives of the people I work with. I tend to have an optimistic perspective on human nature and truly believe everyone has the capacity to change if they’re willing to put the time and work in. I’m person centred which means I’m not the expert on your life, you are, as you know yourself best, it just may not feel like it at this current time. My job is to work with you, helping you to better understand yourself and achieve the goals you desire, what ever they may look like. Being an ‘integrative counsellor’ simply means I integrate different modalities and ways of working, picking the most suitable depending on what we’re working on. I use Gestalt, Solution focused therapy, Person centred therapy and Transactional analysis.
Experience
I’ve been working in the field of Therapy since 2014, where I worked as an adventure therapy practitioner. I worked with Children whose lives had often been too colourful for education and used outdoor adventures as a vessel for therapeutic change and to provide an education/get them back into the school system. In 2017 I started working solely with Adults in order to grow my skill base and in 2019 set up my own practice seeing clients over zoom. Since 2014 I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients with a diverse range of issues, these include but aren’t limited to:
Addiction
Adoption
Anger
Bereavement
Depression
Developmental Disorders (ADHD, Autism, Learning Difficulties)
Family conflicts/dynamics
OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)
Personal issues (confidence, low self esteem, goal setting, motivation, personal development)
Relationships (issues within relationships, break ups, understanding traits)
Workplace issues and/or stress
I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS)
Diploma level 5 in counselling
Certificate in counselling - Institute of counselling
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio, I hope to hear from you soon, however if you decide I'm not what you're looking for I wish you the very best on your journey.
