I hold a Diploma in Counselling from the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (FETC). The ETC approach is to work with clients' feelings to develop a strengthened sense of self and resilience. This approach is effective with both adults and young people. It may involve the use of practical exercises or creative activities, depending on the client's needs and preferences. The exact approach will depend on each client's individual situation. It will always be accepting, non-judgmental and confidential.
I have wide experience of working in schools with children and young people who have a range of individual needs including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, down syndrome, physical disability, visual impairment and medical needs. My work in schools has shown me that emotional needs can significantly affect young people's confidence and achievement and I have a strong commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing.
Issues that I can help with include: self esteem and confidence, anxiety, depression, relationships, anger, self harm, bullying, addictions, eating disorders, exam stress.
