My career pathways are in education and counselling. Whilst completing my integrative (mixed approaches) counselling qualifications, as detailed below, I was also teaching English for different purposes. I found working in this discipline extremely rewarding and would hope to be able to welcome non-native English language clients to my private practice, Let's Talk Counselling Services.

As psychotherapeutic counsellor, I have a longstanding interest in supporting children, young people and adults who are going through challenging times. So, in extending my skills to work with children, young people and adults, I am currently working towards a level 2 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

DDP aims to use current understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and attachment issues on relationships in different care/nurture settings. This form of psychotherapy pays particular attention to giving voice to the child or young person living in their second families (such as foster-care or with adoptive families). In refocusing the attention away from the behaviour and behaviour management, it also aims to support or coach the nurturer on how to build healthier relational bonds between them and the child or young person who has experienced ACEs or trauma.

In choosing to invite me to work with you, it is important to know that I will not assume an 'expert' position. Instead, I will provide ample space for you to work through whatever it is that brought you to counselling.
