Formerly a teacher/facilitator in education I encountered differing mental health problems of students and colleagues. I too come across this In my other work as a driving instructor.
Unconditionally supportive of others, I listen free of judgement, while being emphatic. This way of being not only became the cornerstone of my profession it too is my philosophy.
Seeing the value people get from being heard and understood allowed me to be open to my experiences which illuminated my self-awareness of the personal qualities others saw or sensed of me. This was the seed that germinated my interested in human development and personal growth so much so I studied and graduated in humanistic Person-Centred Counselling.
Of the Person-Centred family of therapies I practise as a Person-Centred Experiential therapist. Taking a holistic approach to therapy. I additionally put emphasis on having an active, though non-directive, collaborative role in the therapeutic relationship. Attending to your ‘process experiencing’ and inviting you to explore this area of ‘yourself’.
Additionally, I offer a Solution-Focused approach intervention to facilitate personal growth/understanding/change.
My therapeutic work has allowed me to support primary aged, secondary and university students. I also support adults experiencing mild to severe personal distresses/trauma.
