Hi, my name is Damaris and I guess right now trying to work out how to say my name, possibly could be as confusing as you trying to decide if (A) counselling is right for you, (B) who is the right counsellor for you?

Society is continually bombarded by global industries advertising their wares, as a result many of us feel that without their products, we are not good enough. Or sometimes when life often makes such demands 24 hours a day, it’s not surprising many of us often have no idea who we really are and what we truly need for our personal life journey; this is why many of us often feel lost.

I will provide you a safe confidential space, here without being judged or criticised you can gently explore your concerns at a speed which is right for you; be it understanding your present life, exploring, if necessary, your early years and how these interactions have formed your present coping strategies when feeling pressurised. If desired, empower you to have healthy strategies for the life ahead of you. Or you may just want to sit, reflect and explore your present thoughts and feelings, this alone can be really beneficial for your wellbeing. The style of counselling I adopt, enables me to listen to you and then adapt and flow our sessions according to your specific needs.

I have experience working with grief/bereavement, self-harm, work related issues, victims of hate crime and domestic abuse. Therefore, cover area’s such as self-esteem, anxiety, anger, self-worth, coping skills, stress, trauma, substance misuse and peer relationships.

I have additional training related to male domestic abuse victims and accredited training for the loss pregnancy (be it abortion or miscarriage) through to still born and infant loss such as SIDS, this includes supporting anyone associated with trauma relating to the loss not just the parents.

I endeavour to help you to explore those feelings that are causing “pain” and are possibly causing you to feel overwhelmed and take positive steps towards a calmer way of being, and hopefully a life with more understanding, more clarity.

If you are still reading this; thank you. Should you wish to commence your therapeutic journey with me I genuinely look forward to meeting you.
