Are you having problems with relationships, family or friends? Are you anxious, stressed out, dissatisfied, overwhelmed, guilty, upset or angry? Whatever difficult feelings you have, it often means pain in some way. When things are painful we would rather not deal with them unless they get so bad we can't ignore them anymore.
Counselling isn’t just something people do when they are in crisis or at rock bottom, coming to counselling before problems snowball or get too overwhelming can be so helpful and can potentially save you more pain in the long run. Sometimes my clients tell me they feel like things are hopeless, we work from where you are at and take steps towards where you want to be. Sometimes your situation can be worked through in only a few sessions and sometimes it takes a little longer.
It is normal to feel apprehensive, nervous or awkward especially when you are thinking about coming to counselling. My clients often tell me that they feel lighter and better after the first session though even if they were feeling unsure and sceptical.
