Having been through a process of psychotherapy myself. I am now passionate about therapy, and the opportunities it presents for feeling better, exploring change and for resolving personal issues and difficulties in life.
The main models of therapy underpinning my work are Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and Relational Psychotherapy. Transactional analysis psychotherapy looks at how we become who we are, and how we grow and change during the course of life. Relational Psychotherapy is an approach which believes in the centrality of the therapeutic relationship as the significant agent for change and successful therapy.
I have experience of helping people with the following:
Abuse (Domestic, Emotional, Physical)
Anxiety and Stress
Bereavement, Loss and Grief
Childhood Issues
Depression and low mood, including sadness, unhappiness and problems with motivation
Specialist Psychological Support for Living with Migraine and Chronic Pain
Relationship Difficulties
Sexuality and Other Identity Issues
Self-Harm or Self-Injury
Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem Difficulties
Workplace Stress and other difficulties
I also have experience of helping people explore and work through more general concerns to do with a sense of discomfort, ' just not feeling right', and a sense of recurring life patterns or themes.
Therapy can short-term (lasting a few weeks), for several months, or it can last for a number of years when there is a long-term commitment to personal growth and development. How long your therapy lasts can be decided at the beginning of the therapy or can be worked out during the process.
There is no one right way or period of time that therapy should last. Rather working with a therapist is a unique process, individual to you and your circumstances.
