I am a person-centred psychotherapist (MSc with distinction, Sherwood Institute, Nottingham, validated by Staffordshire University). I am UKCP-registered, MBACP and NCS (Accred). I work only on Zoom, so you can be located anywhere. I offer long-term and short-term counselling and psychotherapy.
In addition to my private practice, I am an academic - Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Salford - and a writer and editor: I am co-editor (with Emma Palmer) of #MeToo: Counsellors and psychotherapists speak about sexual violence and abuse, PCCS Books, 2020; and I have a new co-written book coming out in summer 2022 which explores the process of studying psychotherapy and counselling.
I see counselling and psychotherapy as political activism, a challenge to social control, a way of freeing ourselves. You can bring any issues to our sessions (so I haven't made a list of 'areas I work with' on this website). I have particular interests in sexual and domestic violence; gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD) (I am a queer therapist); and use of alcohol and drugs as survival strategies. As I have 20+years in higher education, I am familiar with some of the pressures on students and staff; I also offer sessions for psychotherapists and counsellors-in-training, or thinking about training.
I am currently training as a clinical supervisor: Supervision through an intersectional lens, TA East London.
