I currently work in schools and colleges in Powys, Wales. I hold the position of Senior Practitioner for KOOTH plc, who hold the current contact for all Counselling services for children, adolescents and young adults in Powys.
I offer a fresh, modern approach to counselling and maintain a strong professional ethos which respects the ethical principles set out within the NCS Ethical Framework.
As a Person-Centred Counsellor I have been trained within the 'humanistic' approach.
I believe in working with the whole person, this includes your emotions, thinking, beliefs, family, life situation etc. I will adapt the use of these methods depending on you and your needs.
Fundamentally, I will allow you to lead the way and to express yourself without judgement or criticism from me. This provides a space for personal growth through self reflection. I will do this by showing empathy and understanding, by being honest with you and by accepting you for who you are. I will not give you advice or tell you what you should or shouldn't do, I believe there is far more value in helping you decide things for yourself. I believe that no one knows you better than you know yourself, you are the expert of you. Therefore I am always client led. I will use what feels appropriate and most useful to help you, the individual. Any kind of exercise or activity is strictly by invitation only - you will never have to do anything you dont want to.
