I started my counselling training in 2004 at my local college completing levels 1&2 of a counselling skills and theory course. During this time I really came to understand that counselling isn't about giving advice but rather learning to sit with someone during their most painful moments and supporting them to make the changes they are striving for. I then went on to complete my degree in Integrative Counselling at university and undertook a clinical placement with a young persons charity.
Since qualifying in 2010 I have worked in rehab treatment facilities and community services. Now I focus solely on my private practice and work predominately with clients who present mild to moderate conditions such as depression, stress and anxiety which can develop for many reasons such as problems in the home, issues in your relationships, loss or bereavement and being unsatisfied in your job or with your career.
As an integrative counsellor I work with what is going on in the present while making any links with past experiences that may become apparent through the process. Unravelling the past can help make sense of how we respond and react to our present situations and we can then begin to facilitate the change we desire which ever that may be for you.
I offer both long and short term therapy as only you will know when you feel ready to move on. This means you aren't tied into a contract for a certain amount of sessions and equally I don't make any promises that you will feel better after a certain length of time.
I believe we are all unique individual beings and everyone's life experiences, process and journey through therapy is unique to them.
