To put it simply, I really believe that talking to a counsellor helps. I know it because I have been a client myself. It was important for me to have someone "neutral", someone that did not know all of me who I could vent to in confidence without having to worry about hurting anyone's feelings. My counsellor never said: "Well, of course, you did that!" or "How could you do that to...!" I am hoping I can be that person for you. The person you come to talk to that will not judge you and will help you become more self-aware. That is what I was trained to do.
In my private practice, I see clients from all walks of life: men, women, non-binary, young people who are hetero, gay, bi, queer, transgender. People that have stress, anxiety, fears, worries, low mood, insecurities but that also allow themselves to dream and hope for something better, for something more. Some clients would like me to tell them what to do; I cannot give you advice but I can help you unpick, understand and raise awareness of what you bring to therapy. We can do this because I am not an expert when it comes to you, you are the expert of yourself. Sometimes clients tell me that they are not sure they know themselves at all; then my job is to help you get to know yourself one session at a time.
