I've often been told that I'm very easy to talk to and the anxiety that comes with talking to a counsellor for the first time is often short lived, when you meet me, as I work really hard to help you feel as comfortable as possible throughout our time together, especially during our first session.
I am aware that considering counselling and talking to a stranger about the things on your mind can be a very daunting and overwhelming experience. Maybe you've tried to talk to a friend or family member but haven't felt they really listened to you which left you feeling misunderstood and/or unheard. Maybe you want to protect those around you or not burden them with what is on your mind. Maybe coming to counselling is something you've never imagined yourself doing.
Reasons why you may need support:
Have you noticed that you are regularly putting on a brave face to those around you, acting as if you are OK: when in fact you are struggling and having constant battles in your head. Maybe you wished that you could run away from it all in an attempt to quieten down those thoughts in your head.
The areas I can help you with include:
Work/career - bullying, confidence issues, lack of motivation, addiction to work, stress
Life changes such as a new baby, bereavement, a loss, an illness, a new job or moving house/change of location
Breaking the cycle of re-occurring behavioural patterns
Feeling less 'stuck', 'trapped', 'empty' or numb
Working through past experiences which have held you back
Identity issues (e.g. low confidence and self esteem, defensiveness, comparisons to others, feeling self conscious)
Feeling low or out of sorts (e.g. “things just don’t seem right”, fluctuating moods, indecisiveness, feeling stressed and anxious, procrastination, feeling stuck, depressed, overwhelmed by day to day decisions, anxious, flat/lost/loss of spark or no motivation)
Improving sleep
Working through relationship challenges to build a more fulfilling partnership.
What you can expect from our sessions:
I am conveniently based just a couple of miles off junction 29a of the M1 in Bolsover where there is on street parking and excellent transport links.
I'm an experienced counsellor with over 8 years of working with a diverse range of clients and issues. I provide both short term (4-8 sessions) counselling and more in-depth mid (12 - 24 sessions) to long term therapy (24 sessions and over).
Knowing that you have a regular appointment can be comforting; somewhere to unpick and make sense of what has arisen or has occupied your mind since our last session.
I can help you to:
Find ways to improve your sleep, your self-esteem, your anxious thoughts and panic or low mood
Manage stress and pressure in a more effective way
Work through long held memories and feelings relating to your past so that they are no longer as painful
Gain courage and strategies to make different life choices
Come to terms and find peace surrounding the loss of a loved one or the loss of an important hope for the future
Learn ways for a more harmonious relationship, how to get past confrontation and resentment and improve communication.
The session:
Our sessions will be 50 minutes in length and are usually weekly (particularly within the first few weeks) at a mutually beneficial time. Alternative frequencies (such as fortnightly or monthly) can be discussed and agreed, if required.
I offer morning, afternoon and evening appointments (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and some Saturday's).
Many people enter therapy knowing what they want to work on, while others don’t. Either way finding someone who you feel comfortable with is essential. I am aware that deciding on and meeting a therapist for the first time can be an overwhelming experience for most people. An initial session allows for us to meet, discuss your situation so you can decide if I'm the right fit for you and I can assess if I can meet your expectations and needs.
If you'd like to talk about your situation, ask any questions or raise any concerns, please text or phone me on 07517 644 540 or email me at info@sarahwallacecounselling.co.uk (If you contact me via email, please check you junk/spam folders as often my replies end up there. Alternatively include a mobile number in your email so i can text to inform you I've responded to your email).
Client Feedback:
"It's been life changing!"
"You've given me strength to get through this!"
"You've helped me to see that I'm important too"
"I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone . I was very cautious when I decided to seek help but she managed to get to the bottom of some very deep seated issues. She used her skills to gently probe and I often thought “where did that come from?” when issues came to the fore. I always felt secure in her consultations, both physically an emotionally".
