I offer therapeutic integrative counselling for adults. I also work with trauma, childhood trauma and ptsd.
I want to offer the client a safe and confidential space. I want to bring a sense of safety, warmth and trust and to provide a space where any word, emotion or feeling is welcome. I allow the client to experience the power of being truly listened too, where they are in control and are heard. This is your time, your space.
The thought of starting counselling can be daunting and scary, which is understandable due to having to talk to someone you don't know. Possibly the fear of the unknown may cause a block.
I want to give you a brief outlook on what to expect with me. I feel it is important to tell people that there is no right or wrong thing to say or bring up.
In the first session we will explore what you need out of the sessions and make sure we both feel comfortable. If we are both happy to go ahead and you would like to work with me, we will then discuss a contract and see how many sessions you would like. I offer open ended sessions and the option to book a block of 4 or 6. I understand life can sometimes be challenging and busy, therefore I can negotiate on more flexible sessions to suit both of us if needed.
We will set goals on what you would like to focus on, and you will always be at the centre of the session. There will be no judgment and I would like you to feel safe and be able to form a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, which means I have trained in multiple theoretical approaches , such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Person Centred.
This enables me to adapt my approach to best suit the individual I am working with. I work with the Connections Model, seeing the individual as a whole person, made up of different parts; mind, body, soul and emotion. If one of these parts becomes disconnected, it can help to try and reconnect them to that part for a better sense of wellbeing. We will work together at a pace that suits you, to explore a deeper understanding of what comes up.
I can be there to support and guide you through what may emerge. I believe that not everyone knows where to start, and usually, if one is allowed to let out freely what comes up it will become easier for the process.
