I am passionate about the growth and healing that can come from safe and healthy relationships. Through my education I found a way to take my passion and combine it with a career to work in a way that benefits you.
For me, counselling is a place for you to get to know yourself, perhaps for the very first time. As a counsellor my role is to support you in that exploration, listening and understanding honestly while you begin to truly understand who you are. You can work through pain, anxiety, joy and all feelings in-between; every experience is you getting to know who you truly are. Through our healthy working relationship you can begin to view the world with an increased level of self understanding, worth and esteem.
I have particular areas of interest based on my own life experiences. Although my work is not limited to these specific areas I do have a deeper understanding of the impact of:
- Race, ethnicity and the impact of living cross culturally. I have presented nationally and written on the impact of this in relation to counselling.
- Generational trauma and family systems.
- Pregnancy, labour and parenthood.
- Deafness and hearing loss. I hold a Signature L2 BSL qualification and also offer day-to-day support for a deaf relative so understand some of the every day challenges faced by members of the deaf community.
- Complexities involved in body image and challenging relationships with food.
Low self esteem and self worth.
Counselling is a significant step and I offer a free initial consultation for you to see if I am the right person for you. There is no obligation to work with me; this is an opportunity to ask my questions and to see if we are a good fit for you to begin working towards your own personal goals.
