I understand that it takes strength to ask for help from someone you do not know and deciding on a therapist to work with is a daunting task, so I would like to introduce myself to you as a counsellor and how I work.

I am a qualified, professionally registered and experienced counsellor. My deep belief that we are all unique shapes my work with my clients. I appreciate the unique essence of a person separate from the influence of a painful past and the ongoing abuse of a cruel inner voice.

In therapy with me there is no judgement, just acceptance, honesty and authenticity. I can offer you trust, kindness, warmth and the occasional humour. I will help you to truly know and understand yourself and support you in implementing changes in your life that are true to who you really are.

We will explore your past experiences if you wish to do so and examine how your past has shaped who you are, the way you think, the way you relate to others and how it contributes to your presenting problems. We will work on how you feel in the "here and now" and explore ways of coping better and feeling happier in your life.

My experience has been gained through working in private practice and in the counselling services of two large mental health charities and of a University. I have been helping clients with varied presentations such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, grief and loss, addiction, trauma, abuse and other issues.

My specialisms are Eating Disorders and Weight Loss Counselling. I have been working with clients to help them understand that our use of food can be emotionally charged and that it may mask events and uncomfortable feelings which we find difficult to deal with. With my help clients can understand their relationship with food, explore barriers to healthy eating, and discover their inner resources to create a healthier relationship with food and themselves.
