Therapy
Is tailored to individual needs, I do not find that a one-size-fits-all approach is the most effective or healthy. Good therapy responds to progress and adapting to changing needs, creating a balance between ‘why am I like this?’ with ‘what can I do about this’ which is where more directive therapy and goals-based coaching can be most effective.
Initially Individual counselling working in the mental health and wellbeing field, particularly with regard to people unemployed, facing redundancy or re-entering the workforce. This branched out into private practice dealing with employment, relationship, mental health, bereavement and so forth. Acquired contracts for various insurance and Employee assistance programmes. Later I qualified as a Therapeutic Coach, using counselling and coaching skills to help clients and service users reach their goals.
From 2015 I qualified as a relationship couples counsellor and gained a great deal of experience in this field. As a consequence, relationships are affected by all kinds of life issues, mental health bereavement, anxiety PTSD, depression, personality disorders etc.
I was accepted for a Relate endorsed National Health Service contract providing relationship, post break-up, and especially safety for survivors of abusive and controlling/coercive relationships.
Since Covid I have worked exclusively online and by telephone, finding that clients respond warmly and more quickly than face-to-face settings. I have most recently worked for a US based online therapy, successfully dealing with clients from all over the world. I also provide reduced fee mentoring support and therapy for counselling students.
