I provide a confidential, safe, and trusting space, working online, to support you to talk about whatever is troubling you. I will help you to connect more deeply and to explore what is sometimes hard to reach.
You may have issues or needs that you would like to focus on or you may just know that something isn’t quite how you would like it to be.

As a counsellor I will work with you to help you to develop a greater understanding of yourself. I will encourage you to have a voice, I will always listen carefully, to help you to feel heard.

Counselling is a collaborative process, in which both you and the counsellor work together to develop a greater understanding of you. It is not like going to a doctor where you describe your symptoms, then await treatment from the doctor. In counselling you are not passive, instead you are an active participant.

Previous clients have described me as a good listener who made them feel safe and didn’t judge them. They said that my undivided and focussed attention allowed them to explore their life in a way that deepened their understanding of themselves.

The way I work is called person-centred, and I see it as a journey on which I will walk alongside you and help you understand yourself better and empower you to make choices that are right for you.
This puts you in the driving seat, which means that you will feel in control and can determine which direction we take. I will help you reflect on your journey and facilitate a dialogue that will enable you to feel a sense of safety and encourage you to explore yourself deeply.
My training was integrative, meaning that I have knowledge of different counselling modalities which I can draw on that suit the individual client.

I am passionate about creative writing, and open to any form of creativity clients may wish to bring into their therapy. I personally write short stories which help me express and process the challenges and joys of life.

I am particularly interested in how our early experiences shape us and how certain patterns, thoughts, feelings and behaviours carry through into adulthood.
Sometimes these are helpful, sometimes they can stop us from living a fulfilling life. Understanding our development can help us establish new ways of being if it is stopping us from living freely.

I have worked extensively with bereavement and loss. Loss is not limited to the death of another person. We may lose a pet, a job, our safety, our health, a relationship, our self esteem and many other things.
How do we move forward? How do we come to terms with the loss of something that had been so important to us?
Everyone is different, and therefore there is no right or wrong way - just the right way for you, on which I will support you.

I am also an Anxiety UK approved therapist and offer counselling to people with a range of anxiety disorders on behalf of the organisation. Anxiety can present itself in many forms, including but not limited to specific phobias, social anxiety, and stress that leads to anxiety/depression. Depending on the root cause of your anxiety we can find ways to help you cope better or view things from a different perspective.

I also offer services for Spill utilising a single session therapy approach. Single session therapy can be beneficial if you wish to work through a specific issue where we aim to implement strategies for you to put into practice before booking another session. If you are interested in single session therapy as a private client please let me know. The approach tends to be more solution-focused than longer term therapy.

In addition to my counselling work I am employed by Ehlers-Danlos Support UK in an advisory capacity, working with people who are living with a chronic genetic health condition.

Prior to this I worked as an Immigration Adviser at the University of Bath for over 10 years which has allowed me to develop extensive cultural awareness.

Something about me: I care deeply about animals and the bond we form. Throughout my life my animals have had healing qualities for me, and many clients feel that the unconditional love of pets can play a great role in their wellbeing.
My own dog called Magic was supposed to become a therapy dog for clients. Magic has turned out not to have any talent as a therapy dog at all, but she has had a therapeutic impact on my life, enabling me to make changes that didn’t seem possible before.
I believe that there is always a reason for a specific animal to be in our life.

I can offer therapy in English and German. I am a native German speaker and grew up bilingually and am equally fluent in both languages.
