My approach to counselling is based on the integration of psychoanalytical, cognitive and humanistic theory into a model that adapts to the needs and individuality of the client. Being given a diagnosis by a medical professional is immensely valuable in validating and acknowledging the reality of your distress and medication is sometimes needed to make your current emotions bearable. However, a diagnostic label can detract from exploring your individual experience and the causes of your suffering, which is when counselling and psychotherapy is so valuable.

By contrast, by relating to you as a unique individual, with your unique history and unique experience, integrative counselling offers the possibility of authentic change. By meeting you as a person, as an individual, we are able to explore the roots of your distress and to understand how your experiential history plays out in the present. It's not about finding people to blame but about identifying how self-destructive and self-sabotaging beliefs hold you back or trap you in your distress.
