Hi . My name is Beverley. I'm a qualified counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and accredited with the National Counselling Society (MNCS accred). I am also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS). I’ve been in practice as a counsellor for over 15 years, working with people who find themselves struggling with their mental health. Usually in one or more of the following areas :

Depression: Suffering from ongoing low mood, sometimes with feelings of guilt and hopelessness. These unpleasant feelings are difficult to manage alone and can be signs of depression. I can help you recover from your current depression and together we will develop strategies for managing any future bouts of low mood.

Anxiety: is an awful but common symptom of emotional distress. There are many reasons why some people suffer from anxiety more than others. The good news is that anxiety, no matter how awful, can be managed. I have considerable experience in helping people understand and manage their own particular form of anxiety.

Going through a ‘Bad Patch’ : Most of us will go through a ‘bad patch at sometime in our lives. Often family and friends are wonderful, they are there for us and they help us through the difficult times. However, there are times when sharing problems with family and friends is complicated and sometimes’ the help and advice given creates confusion, preventing us from seeing the way forward. Talking things through with an impartial listener can be the key. It can help clear the confusion and restore motivation. I would be happy to help you in this situation.

Relationship breakdown: Suffering from the fallout and trauma of a relationship breakdown. This incredibly painful and difficult time can be an overwhelming emotional burden. It is exhausting to carry this alone. Feelings of Loss, rejection and bereavement, are common symptoms. There may also be elements of anxiety and depression. I can offer the support of an experienced therapist to help you through this awful time.

Bereavement: Some people find it helpful to have my support whilst adjusting to a life without their loved one. I spent several years working as a bereavement counsellor in both hospice and hospital settings. I would be pleased to offer specialist support with your bereavement .

My approach to helping pays particular attention to confidentiality, privacy and personal dignity. I provide counselling that is both supportive and rational. Combining the warmth of a trusting relationship, with the professional knowledge and experience of a qualified counsellor. This approach is successful in helping people through some of their most difficult and challenging times.

Although our work together will not be able to change events that have already happened, counselling will help manage the personal distress caused by difficult events, build self esteem and help in finding a new perspective.

I have worked for many years as a counsellor, for various organisations such as: hospitals, schools, hospice and women’s centres. I now manage my own private counselling practice on the West Shore of Llandudno. I offer positive and non judgemental counselling to individuals seeking brief or longer term counselling.

The length and frequency of counselling sessions will vary according to individual need. Some people will need only a few counselling sessions whilst others will need counselling for a longer time.

People often feel anxious about making the first step to contact a counsellor. Perhaps wondering if their issue is suitable or serious enough? This feeling of uncertainty is very common.
