Hello, I am Liam J. Wakefield, a qualified and accredited psychotherapist (MNCS, BABCP, ACCPH), a father of two, and a passionate writer and musician.
I embarked on therapy as a second career following a life-changing diagnosis from a rare degenerative chronic illness that ended an 11-year military career, forcing an entire life change and cognitive reconstruction to overcome the deep struggle both physically and mentally. I was fortunate enough to work with some of the top professionals in mental health, and from that, I found a passion and purpose in wanting to help and work with others. I deliver many talks on post-traumatic growth and chronic illness alongside my therapeutic work.
I began my training in Therapeutic Counselling CPCAB and have since progressed onto various other therapies such as psychodynamics, existential counselling, relationship counselling, and some of the more commonly known methods such as CBT and ACT. Alongside this I have studied extensively within psychology and understanding mental health, and continue my professional development by recently starting at Stafford Medical University to study further clinical therapies alongside a placement with Midlands Trust NHS as part of the IAPT Team (Improving Access of Psychological Therapies).
I offer a service of both short-term and long-term therapeutic interventions for individuals, couples, and groups.
I also work with veterans and serving military and emergency service personnel, also offering a service through a company I co-founded called Realign and reengage.
