Hi, I'm Suzanne, a registered and insured integrative therapist working with young people (16-18 years), and individual adults. I understand that life brings with it many challenges, both from the past and in the present, and I deeply believe that by working together, in relationship, we can explore and make sense of your life choices, difficulties and patterns of behaviour. When we understand and accept ourselves, we can make change. My aim is to develop a safe, comfortable and warm relationship, focusing on your unique story, without prejudice or judgement. You will be treated with respect and equality at all times, and truly heard. Our work is collaborative, and led by you - my client.
I can support you with a range of issues and challenges, including (but not limited to): anxiety, low mood, bereavement and loss, infertility, relationship issues, family problems, low self-confidence, lack of purpose, and anger.

Being an integrative counsellor, I draw on many different therapeutic models according to the needs of my client and any goals for the work that we agree on, together. We may also work creatively if that feels helpful in supporting you access and express yourself and your feelings. The aim is that we develop a strong bond so that you feel I am 'walking alongside' you, as we explore various areas of your life. I particularly focus on the following approaches:

Psychodynamic - which helps link and make sense of past interactions and experiences with current ways of relating and life choices.

Person centered - a humanistic approach which ensures clients, and their opinions and beliefs about themselves, are central to the work. This approach supports and respects that every person has an inbuilt drive to reach their full potential, given the right conditions.

Attachment focused - I work with clients to better understand their own attachment style(s), based on historic relationships and current ways of relating, and also the attachment styles of others.

I may also use elements of other theories such as Transactional Analysis, Transpersonal, Existential, Gestalt and Jungian.
