I am a Masters level qualified practitioner offering counselling and psychotherapy in person in Hale, Altrincham, Didsbury, Manchester or Matlock, Derbyshire or online by Zoom, to adults and couples. I am also a qualified walk leader and offer outdoor therapy.

It’s very natural to feel worried, down, confused and frustrated at some time in our lives, most of us do. The stresses of modern life, particularly the challenges of the past couple of years, can simply become too much. When unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours start to affect your life and relationships with those around you, it may be time to consider getting help to make sense of what’s going on. I will wotk with you to gain the insight and clarity to find a positive way forward.

My interest is relationships; whether with ourselves, a partner/spouse, our parents or children. Relationship satisfaction has a profound effect on our wellbeing and ability to flourish in life. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs, working with you to find ways to overcome relationship challenges and find more contentment.

I have a rich and varied life experience and have enjoyed previous careers in both the NHS as a midwife and in education as a secondary school teacher. This prior experience means that I am well placed to work with issues around pregnancy and the postnatal period as well as with womens health issues more generally. As a teacher I gravitated to the pastoral aspects of the role and now I am able to bring my experience with young people in schools to my work in counselling teenagers.

In addition, I understand the particular demands of the health and education sectors and am particularly happy to support those working within these sectors.

I am warm and empathetic, and clients have described me as calm, compassionate and understanding. I aim to make you feel at ease quickly and offer you a safe supportive space to explore your concerns. It's important to find the right counsellor, take your time and speak to several.

  In addition to my work in private practice, I work as a counsellor for a group of GP practices and as such I have a broad experience of counselling clients with issues including depression and anxiety; grief and loss; relationship issues including communication issues, contemplating divorce and post-divorce/separation and co-parenting/children issues; domestic abuse; postnatal depression and birth trauma; infertility; self-esteem and confidence issues; life transitions and changes; existential fear/life meaning; social isolation.
