Welcome to Courage2Be Counselling Services. Having worked with children young people and families for the past 18 years in education and care settings I now specialise in working therapeutically with parents and young people. I have been in practice for 5 years now and I founded this service to empower children, young people, and adults in overcoming mental health difficulties and trauma. Current training commitments include systemic, family, and couples therapy, which will be additional services available from July 2022.

For Parents, Guardians and Families
We have recently become a GHP Mental Health award winner for the most empowering children's counselling services in Bedfordshire, which is really exciting.

With a deep understanding of child development, attachment and the socio-economic factors that impact this, I have developed a model of working with parents and their young person rather than working with the young person in isolation.

Whilst confidentiality will always stay with the young person, caregivers can play a crucial role in their recovery which is facilitated through a parent assessment process, phone support, guidance, and reviews throughout the therapy. I can offer creative and fun ways of working alongside talking therapy and for younger children, I can offer play therapy.

If you are a teen, parent, guardian, or family member who is concerned about yourself or your young person, then please check out my website for further information. I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check and I have experience working with children in mainstream school who may be navigating suicide ideation, self-harm, ASC, Asperger's, or ADHD as well as anxiety, depression, identity worries and life stresses in general.

For adults
Navigating the rollercoaster of life can be extremely difficult and challenging. Change is no easy task when we are faced with such big emotions, negative thoughts, and complete overwhelm. Sometimes professional support is necessary to be able to see the wood for the trees to identify and achieve our goals. So it's great that you're here contemplating a therapeutic journey, towards change, whatever that looks like for you.

Whether you have experienced therapy before or you are new to the process, feeling safe enough to talk is key. Building a strong working foundation that enhances positive therapeutic outcomes is something that I really care about. This is one relationship where it is and can be, all about you and what you need, without any judgment. It's okay to unpack your emotional suitcase at a pace that feels comfortable for you and together we can make sense of it. Sometimes it may be hard to even pinpoint what the issue is to start with and that's also okay. We can make sense of that too, together.

For Counselling Trainees
Having had extensive experience with CPCAB criteria and portfolios through my own training, along with experience as a counselling tutor, I enjoy working with students either in a therapeutic or mentoring capacity.

I work from home in a calm and quiet garden setting not far from junction 11/11A of the M1 or the A505. I can offer online and face-to-face sessions and there are COVID-19 safety procedures in place. I can also draw on therapeutic approaches including Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis, to give you a variety of ways of exploring the work. I appreciate that one approach will not fit everyone, so integrating different approaches helps to tailor the treatment secifically to you and your needs.

If you have any further questions or are considering therapy, then please email me where possible to arrange a free 30-minute phone consultation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmly,

Janine
