Welcome. My name is Julie Mines and I am a fully qualified counsellor experienced in working with young people (16+) and adults. I am a Professional Accredited member of the National Counselling Society.
I believe counselling can help you to find a stronger sense of self, greater understanding and fresh perspective.
Throughout my training I have studied a range of therapeutic approaches but at the heart of my counselling is a commitment to developing a relationship where you feel listened to, safe and accepted.
I am an integrative counsellor with a person-centred approach. I hope to provide a dedicated time and safe space where we can explore and work through the life struggles and questions you are experiencing.
I have experience with a wide range of issues including anxiety, bereavement, loss, childhood trauma, self-esteem, sexual identity, relationship breakdown and depression.
My life experience and working background is broad and diverse and I have worked with different charities/agencies supporting people from all walks of life across many issues.
Where, What and How?
The Covid pandemic impacted all our lives and we have endured challenges and uncertainties. The world may still feel uncertain at this time and there may be life changes and decisions you want to consider or questions to explore. Counselling can be helpful in talking through and reflecting on issues that are affecting you at this moment. There may also be aspects of life that you have been struggling with or questioning for a long time and would welcome an opportunity to work them through. Counselling can provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to safely talk and be listened to. We can work together to explore the issues that you may have been struggling with alone.
Finding the right counsellor can feel daunting. I provide a warm welcome and a calm presence to help put you at ease. I offer an initial phone call after your email enquiry to introduce myself and find out what is bringing you to counselling. We can talk through the ways I am working at the moment - Face to face, Zoom, WhatsApp or phone and how that can work for you. Clients have found that online/phone counselling is helpful as a safe counselling relationship can be established and it is accessible with no need to travel. There is also the possibility of having our sessions outdoors. Some clients prefer to 'walk and talk'. Our first appointment is about listening to you and how you feel counselling might help. We will talk about how the counselling process works and if you are new to counselling it is an opportunity for you to ask questions and explore concerns.
Counselling sessions can be focused and short-term or I can offer open-ended therapy where you can have as many sessions as you need and work at a pace that feels right for you.
I currently work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
