My modality is humanistic, person-centred and I integrate other modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and creativity. I currently work with adult clients who are struggling with anxiety, survivors of child sexual abuse, depression, grief & loss and with clients exploring past history of childhood and adult trauma and abuse; on occasions I also facilitate telephone sessions, walk and talk and single session therapy with clients. I am a sessional counsellor with STARS Dorset where I also carry out assessments for suitability within the service. Initial assessment and contracting form part of my work.
Having completed the trauma informed training (stabilisation, processing and integration) with STARS during the summer of 2020 I now work with STARS’ clients including adult survivors of domestic and historic child sexual abuse. At STARS we use a trauma informed approach to provide a safe space to help clients heal and learn, supporting them to learn about the effects of trauma on emotions, the brain and the body and to work through their trauma. I currently counsel clients face to face and online using Zoom.
