I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. People often describe this type of therapy as ‘going deeper’. This might be because an important part of the work is bringing what is unconscious into consciousness, through exploring how past relationships and our emotional development affect our present lives, behaviours and perceptions.

Psychotherapy is an opportunity for us to explore, through talking, how things are for you. In doing so, you get to know yourself better and understand more about the things that have happened to you and the choices you have made. I believe that it is this insight which allows us all to live happier and more fulfilling lives, in a way that fits better with who we really are.

As well as working in private practice, I have volunteered for Cruse Bereavement Support, the Samaritans and the UK Paruresis Trust and have worked as a counsellor for South Bucks Counselling. I also work as a freelance trainer, which has included developing and delivering training for a range of audiences on aspects of bereavement and grief on behalf of Cruse Bereavement Support.

Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I worked for ten years for the Health and Care Professions Council, a statutory regulator of health and care professionals.
