“I work from the premise that awareness is fundamentally healing and that within each of us, within our ‘core’, there lies the potential to connect more deeply with our inherent health and wisdom. As human beings, we tend to be fearful of change and the inevitable uncertainty that life transitions can bring. The mindfulness-based process of bringing wise and compassionate attention to ourselves and different aspects of our being that may be hidden, wounded or hurting mitigates this ‘anxiety of uncertainty’ and allows us to cultivate a different relationship with our experience; one in which we see ourselves more clearly and increase our capacity to move towards the challenges of life transition in a more resourceful way.”
James is a fully qualified Mindfulness Teacher having trained through the CPD programme in Mindfulness Based Approaches at the Centre for Mindfulness Research & Practice, Bangor University. Between 2011-2016, he has delivered 40+ 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses to members of the general public, introducing 350 people to the benefits of mindfulness-based practice.
James also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapeutic Practice and Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute . He is an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. As part of this training he volunteered as a psychotherapist at Hammersmith & Fulham MIND working within their ‘Time to Talk’ low-cost psychotherapy and counselling services.
