My Approach: I hold that all humans have the potential to experience personal peace despite the cards they may have been dealt at birth and/or through their child and adulthood.
I have an integrated/pluralistic person-centred perspective because to me, ‘one size does not fit all’ and this perspective comes from working with a wide diversity of adults and young people. As part of my own life story, I have searched and found psychological understanding in many different vessels. My life-long interest is in helping people to discover and then feel able to apply their own wisdom, make sense of their own lived experience and increase their own self-knowledge to live a more fulfilled life.
Where it all started: I took up photography, initially thinking it would take me around the world but in fact it brought the world to me. Eventually I applied my practical and creative skills to became a community artist and I learnt to teach, using photography to help people who were marginalised from the mainstream and young people who struggled to fit into school. I was a young person's intervention substance misuse worker specialising in helping those affected by someone else's substance (mis)use (hidden harm) and I am still a practicing youth worker. It was the next natural step for me to train as a counsellor, and to continue to work cross-culturally. My specialist skillset includes all bereavement and loss work, substance misuse and hidden harm and working with childhood/adult trauma,
