There's a myth that you need to be in crisis or at breaking point to have therapy, but this is absolutely not the case. Therapy can help you with a specific issue, if you're feeling stuck, or if you want to enhance your personal growth; it's about what's right for you. Perhaps you're feeling anxious as the world reopens? Or maybe your relationships have changed over the last year and you’re wondering how to move forwards? Or you might be feeling like you’re disconnected from yourself and what you want out of life. Therapy isn't about “fixing” you because you aren't broken; instead it's about empowering you to make positive changes.
I believe that everyone is fundamentally okay and has the capacity to change. I'm passionate about working with people, and I have a particular interest in working with trauma. For me, therapy isn't about asking, "What's wrong with you?", but rather, "What's happened to you?", processing your thoughts and feelings, and exploring how you can move forwards.
I've had therapy for many years myself and remember how scary it was to make an initial enquiry. Although it felt like an impossible step at first, getting the support I needed when I was struggling has been life-changing. If you think I might be the therapist for you, feel free to contact me as and when you're ready and let's see if we can work together.
