Peter Thompson

Member Status: Accredited

Member No: PT00P01

Location: Bewdley

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and work in strict adherence to both the Ethical Framework stipulated by the NCS.

I am on the voluntary register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) was set up by the Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public.
Being accreditted to this register demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, enhancing safety and delivering a better service.

I work with Anger Management, Couples and Relationship Counselling, Alcohol, Bereavement, Loss, Addiction, Rejection, Sexual issues, Loss of confidence, Low self-esteem, Anxiety amongst a number of other areas.

I manage my own private practice based in Bewdley.
I am also an experienced Bereavement Counsellor having volunteered for a local Bereavement Support Charity for five years.
I served as volunteer Health & Well-being Ambassador with Royal Mail.
I am on the approved list of counsellors to West Midlands Police.

As well as my Diploma in Therapeutic Practice I am also a Reiki Master but I will not refer to this side of my practice unless a client specifically expresses an interest in it.

I also counsel students and my fee’s are in the relevant section below.

First sessions are upto 30 minutes and will be for the purpose of mutual assessment and is charged at £25.00

So how do I work?

My overall style comes from the Humanistic approach, whereby I offer the client my total respect without judgement or question from the very beginning of the relationship.

With this in place the client will learn to trust not only me the counsellor but the relationship that they are starting to develop with me. And from this trust comes a comfort in being able to talk and be listened to.

I offer a venue of calmness and safety governed at all times by a strict ethical adherence to confidentiality.

So whereas I am predominantly a Person-centred counsellor, I will draw from a number of models and techniques in order to provide clients with a suitable and worthwhile experience.

It is important to me that I help a client to have an understanding of the development process that they become involved in, as this enables them to be comfortable with their new and growing awareness not only of themselves but of all around them.

PLEASE NOTE:-
I choose not to work with clients younger than 25 years of age. Neither do I work with clients seeking Pre-trial therapy.

I thank you again for reading my profile and should you wish to contact me please either call me (if I am busy please leave a message on my voice mail and I shall return your call as soon as possible), email me at ptcounselling@yahoo.com .
Many Thanks for your time.
