I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and supervisor and I am able to work with a wide range of difficulties and challenges that people may face. I work in an integrative way which means that I use models and tools from different therapeutic disciplines to assist clients in a manner that is appropriate to them. Sometimes people have a very clear idea on what they want to change for themselves and other times it’s just a feeling of wanting things to be different or being overwhelmed. Either way I believe there is a way forward that can be found and worked towards.
Having a trusting supportive relationship is the foundation to working together towards positive change and with this in mind I offer a reduced rate initial session for us both to consider further work together. I offer both short term solution focussed therapy to assist with day to day issues and longer term therapy which may cover earlier experiences which still impact on adult life. I have been a counsellor at a Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre since 2005 and as a result of this I have developed a particular interest in trauma and the wide and often complex variety of issues that can subsequently manifest. Some of these include depression, anxiety, flash backs and panic attacks, low self-esteem/confidence, feelings of blame, shame and guilt, P.T.S.D (Post traumatic stress disorder) and personality disorders.
I am a member of PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors) and TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group) and I endeavour to keep myself up to date in the latest developments in this field, particularly the understanding of how trauma can leave us with patterns of behaviour that continue to impact on daily life.
I work from Hereford city centre and would be happy to meet you for you to decide if you would like to work with me.
