Hi there! My name is Mollie and I am a counsellor at the Youth Intervention Centre. The Youth Intervention Centre was created to provide a safe place where young people who may be struggling can be supported and understood.
I am trained as an Integrative counsellor which means I work with a range of counselling theories to help you feel listened to and understood while providing a safe, welcoming space to explore your feelings and thoughts. Some of the theories I'm trained to use are Person Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused and Mindfulness.
I have a calming and comfortable room within the Youth Intervention Centre where most of our work can take place, however I am aware that sometimes sitting face to face with someone and talking about yourself can feel intimidating or scary. This is why I am also able to bring in a range of skills and activities during our sessions if this feels appropriate. This can provide you with a unique space where you feel comfortable and able to share some of your troubles. Some of the activities we may use in our sessions, alongside talking therapies, are; art, sensory activities, worksheets, play, nature and other creative therapies.
I believe the relationship between client and counsellor is one of the most important parts of counselling. My main aim in our sessions is to allow you to feel safe and comfortable so that when you feel it's right you can start to talk about some of the things that are troubling you.
My whole approach is based around you and what you want from counselling; whether that is an ear to listen, coping strategies to take away or a place where you can completely be yourself and begin to gently unpack traumas from the past.
