It takes courage to become truly and confidently oneself. I believe I can help by offering you two streams of beneficial insight in a combination balanced to suit your needs.
The discipline I've given most of my professional life to is yoga therapy, which explores the deep relationship between states of body and states of mind and strengthens one in order to strengthen and protect the other. I studied yoga in the UK and India for nine years, changing my own outlook and aspirations in the process.
In recent years, I've extended this deeply formative experience with professional training as a counsellor. In essence my therapeutic method is rooted in mindfulness - the innate ability we share to bring calm perspective to experience and as a result to connect fully and fearlessly with the present moment. It makes counselling a joint enterprise. Together we will acknowledge and gain perspective on the same fundamental obstacles and anxieties.
I’m convinced that a fusion of ancient and contemporary therapeutic practice can be enlivening in every sense and address the causes of mental, emotional and physical disquiet.
Yoga and counselling have much in common and complement one another perfectly. Yoga is all about cultivating awareness often by means as simple as observing the natural flow of the breath. Yoga therapy will help you to:
• develop insight into what is happening inside you, psychologically and emotionally.
• cultivate the presence of mind to be able to feel your way into uncomfortable experiences and disarm them
• calm the nervous system
• enhance autonomy and well-bring.
Experience
I've worked in a wide range of environments - with adolescents, adults and elders, in private practice, local government, schools and corporations.
I have extensive experience of working with clients with chronic health problems.
I'm an experienced group facilitator and trainer of yoga teachers in Yoga Nidra and meditation. An integral part of this role was offering the necessary support and guidance to the members of the group.
