After 18 years in business and experiencing some major life changes, I retrained as a counsellor to help others experiencing difficulties.
I have worked with clients that have experienced a wide range of personal issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, feeling ‘stuck’, relationship and work issues, and many more. I have a special interest in anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
How can counselling help?
Counselling can help in many ways. It can help with many difficult situations, from coping with traumatic experiences and events, to dealing with depression and anxiety or managing harmful emotions and behaviours. It can help with positive events such as choosing a direction in life or reaching your full potential.
Perhaps you are feeling a ‘bit stuck’ and would value the viewpoint of a counsellor. There may be things from your past that you would like to tackle or there may be things in the present that you want to try and change. Perhaps you are experiencing significant events in your life such as getting married and starting a family, leaving home for the first time or coming to terms with the death of a loved one.
Whatever you are struggling with counselling can give us a new perspective and ability to see things more clearly.
What can you expect from me?
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment for you to be heard. I offer short and long term counselling to individuals and couples from 11 - 99+ years.
Everyone is unique and so are our experiences and issues, therefore my approach is client-led. I am an integrative counsellor and seek to combine aspects of different approaches to provide what you need, when you need it.
I understand that seeking help and support when life feels challenging or overwhelming, can be quite daunting, It is important for you to choose a counsellor that makes you feel safe, accepted, and treated with respect and perhaps also challenges you in a positive constructive way.
I offer a free, no obligation, 30-minute informal consultation. This will give us an opportunity to meet face to face (or via the telephone or zoom) to briefly discuss what is troubling you and how I can help. Just as importantly, it will help you decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Should you choose me as your counsellor, your first session will involve me taking a personal history and agreeing how we will work together, before we start working on your issues. If you decide at this point that you do not wish to continue, that is okay. You are not obligated to attend a specific number of sessions and can stop your counselling at any time.
Please do feel free to look at my website atathena,co.uk to find out more about what I offer or contact me regarding any questions or queries you may have.
I look forward to hearing from you.
