I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am an accredited member with the National Counselling Society (NCS) and I work as a bereavement volunteer with Cruse Birmingham.
Since 2007 have been working as an EOR (Exercise on referral qualified instructor), within a leisure centre, where I get a sense of purpose working with clients who come for support with light exercise and provide a safe place to socially interact, which, for some, is just as beneficial as the exercise plans I put together for them. I have found that exercise for even one hour per week can make marked differences in mood, which is truly rewarding to see.
My interests include helping others to restore and maintain a balance in their life. Using the listening and talking therapies I have helped to unravel the issues that my clients face, and we can do this together. You are always welcome to walk through my door.
I have a genuine desire to help where I can, to preserve mental wellbeing.
For as long as I can remember, I have been a solitary person who loves being around friends and family, but at the same I enjoy my own company. Now, I understand that my lifestyle can be identified as A A, or Asexual and Aromantic. Upon facing this fact, I feel liberated and have developed an interest in the LGBTQIA**** community. This demonstrates how times continue to change, and explains many aspects of my persona. Of course, I can say that I have been happiest when in a single status, and the description of either orientation (sexual or romantic) are just ways of making sense of how we feel inside, which in turn gives a good indication to who we are, and how deal with our reaction to others.
As I mention in my summary, I welcome all who approach me, regardless of ethnicity, gender, background, religion or race.
Working with Cruse Birmingham, a bereavement support charity since March 2020, I have learned that loss can present in a vast variety of ways in all of our lives, from stolen belongings, loss of identity to the ones closest to us.
Within therapy, I use a Pluralistic approach, which means using different approaches to find an appropriate method (a what works for each individual system). This includes being present alongside my client, talking through each idea and the goals within.
More people are using WhatsApp to call and message, so when I am in office, this will be the way of reaching me.
You are always welcome to contact me to arrange a free consultation.
